AWR
Water and Flood Awareness
Raise your awareness in swiftwater and flood rescue. This 8-hour classroom seminar introduces you to the problems associated with swiftwater & flood rescue as well as the procedures to follow in flash flood, large-scale disaster, and seasonal flooding situations.
In this course, you will develop the necessary conceptual understanding of the principles, applications, and hazards associated with advanced water rescue techniques.
BWFR
Basic Water First Responder
Utilise your swimming ability to undertake rescues in a stillwater environment. This course is designed for personnel who may be deployed to a basic (still) water environment such as lakes, ponds, and canals, where they may be required to undertake rescues.
This 12-hour course is mixture of theory and practical sessions for those aged 18 and above. Participants must already be a confident swimmer.
OPS
Operations: Swiftwater and Flood First Responder
Operate in a support role for technician level rescuers in higher risk technical water rescues.
This course is designed to provide you with both a theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of swiftwater rescue. The class includes one day of classroom instruction and one day of practical field exercise.
SRT
Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician
Survive in moving water by learning the practical skills of self-rescue, swiftwater swimming and the fundamentals of shore, boat, and in-water rescues.
In this course, you will gain knowledge in hydrology and river classifications, size-up, site control and scene management.
RVW
Rescues from Vehicles in Water
Specialise in vehicle-related rescues in swiftwater and flood environments.
The course looks at vehicle behaviour and stabilization in water, as well as access techniques and victim extrication. Vehicle hydrology, glass management, anchors, and weight transfer are all addressed in this two-day, hands-on clinic.
SRTA
Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician Advanced
Advance your skills in swiftwater and flood rescue. Take your skills beyond self-rescue to concentrate on victim rescue where you will be exposed to more complex water rescue situations including a mock night river rescue scenario.
This is a 24-hour course over three days, including 4-6 house of classroom, instruction, followed by two and one-half days of hands-on skill development.
PQW
Professional Qualification Assessment: Water
Are you a fully trained rescuer? This assessment provides independent verification of your qualification as a Swiftwater Rescue Technician.
This assessment is not an instructional course, but rather is a place for you as a fully trained rescuer to prove your competency.
This is an 8-hour course for those aged 18 and above. You are required to have already completed Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) or Swiftwater Rescue Technician Advanced Water (SRTAW).
BRW
Body Recovery from Water
Conduct body recovery from water. Body Recovery from Water (BRW) course is a one-day classroom course. This course is aimed at those who may lead or participate in body recoveries, in particular but not limited to swiftwater environments.
As this course uses real footage of body recoveries and decomposition, this course is not suitable for those who may find such information and viewing upsetting. You need no prior water experience as the one-day format is entirely classroom based.
This is an 8-hour course for those aged 18 and above.
SRS
Swiftwater Recovery Specialist
Become a swiftwater recovery specialist. With a curriculum designed by international experts, this one-day course is specially-designed for those already certified to the Swiftwater Rescue Technician level (current certification required). It explores the complexities and techniques of body recovery from shallow depth swiftwater environments.
This is a 16-hour course for those aged 18 and above. You are required to have already completed Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT).
TAR
Technical Animal Rescue in Swiftwater
Rescue animals from swiftwater. This course teaches you how to rescue animals without becoming victims.
Subjects covered include rescuer safety, animal behaviour in rescues, basic first-aid for animals, and how to extricate and safely transport animals in a flood or low-angle environment.
IRS
Inland Rescue Swimmer
Improve your inland swimming technique. You will improve your swimming technique and be introduced to swimmer adjuncts.
The Inland Rescue Swimmer is focused on the inland open water environment to include areas such as lakes or ponds of various sizes.
This is a 16-hour course for those aged 18 and above. You are required to have already completed Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT). Participants must already be a confident swimmer.
IRSA
Inland Rescue Swimmer Advanced
Become the complete rescue swimmer. The Inland Advanced module, a one-day upgrade, is the next step in developing the techniques and strategies for search and rescue of victims in a slow-moving water environment such as large rivers or bays.
This is an 8-hour course for those aged 18 and above. You are required to have already completed Inland Rescue Swimmer (IRS).
IRSC
Inland Rescue Swimmer Coastal
Master coastal water fronts. The Coastal Basic module is a one-day upgrade and is designed for the responder who is responsible for search and rescue operations on the coastal water fronts.
Here you will learn a combination of basic lifeguarding techniques combined with the essentials of inland rescue.
